Sustainability

Sadly there is so much greenwashing within the fashion industry. For this reason, we would like to be transparent about SCRUMP and how we are always trying to be more sustainable.

Where our vintage items come from
We source vintage and pre-loved stock from various locations/suppliers. All of our items are second-hand and have been hand-picked in person.

About SCRUMP garments
Our handmade pieces are created using unwanted, deadstock and off-cut materials. Whether that be a vintage fabric, an old curtain or scraps from a damaged garment. We try to reuse and recycle where possible, and as much as possible. Even many of our threads are hand-me-downs from Nan's, friends, and neighbours!

If we do require something extra to complete a garment, we purchase from responsible sources; trying to support other small businesses where we can.

About SCRUMP designs
Our graphic designs are printed on high quality FSC certified paper and card. To prevent any damages, we do use cello bags to protect our designs. These are made from renewable sources, are biodegradable and plastic free.

Previously we have purchased high quality but non FSC certified paper, and plastic cello bags. Simply put, this was the most cost-effective option for a small business with a new venture. We are still using the few remaining supplies from when we initially ordered this. Please note, we will not be replenishing these supplies, but we would like you to be aware of this when ordering.

All of our printed designs are made to order - so we only print what we need! We do also have a small selection of designs already printed, so we can take them to markets and events.

Garment care
In order for items to last for another lifetime, we do care and repair our garments.

All of our items are washed/cleaned/steamed where possible. This helps to keep our office smelling fresh and not "vintagey" and also means the garment is ready to wear when it reaches you.

Sometimes items may need a replacement button or minor sewing repairs. Nearly all of our haberdashery supplies are pre-loved or reused - we weren't joking when we said we try to salvage as much as possible.

How we ship
All of our items are wrapped in eco-friendly packaging, and we are walking distance from the post office! You can learn more about your parcel in our shipping guide.

Hopefully this shines a light on some of the processes we currently use. As always, we are trying to improve where possible.

As with our own shopping habits, we try to only purchase things we need, or things we really love and know will get lots of use! Something we definitely recommend where possible! :)
